In 1877 A young girl named Lurancy Vennum suddenly became possessed by the spirit of a girl named Mary Roff, who passed away 15 years earlier.
This was a hallmark case riddled with suspicion because it was at the beginning of the Spiritualist movement in the United States. The Fox sisters were making their mark.
