Chris and Eleanor Thompson have been actively investigating Derby Gaol as part of Derwent Paranormal Investigators for eight years. Initially, the investigations were purely technical with hundreds of hours of video and audio recordings made, but five years ago, they became members of staff at the Gaol, where they started providing the services of paranormal guides for groups wishing to carry out overnight vigils at the Gaol. Although this approach is by no means scientific, Chris and Eleanor have been startled by the similar answers obtained by different guests from all over the UK and beyond. Not only that, but they also claim to be able to identify individual spirits by the movements of the various communication devices, many of which are either basic household items or, have been designed and developed by Chris and Eleanor. Along with another member of Derwent Paranormal Investigators (Paul James), many hours of research have been carried out on the internet, local studies library's and historical books to gain further insight into the fascinating building that was Derby Gaol.
